Marissa Alexander: Can We Get It Right This Time?

Esther Armah writes a powerful piece on Marissa Alexander’s release from jail and coming retrial, and the “emotional terrorism” that holds so many women/WoC in chains of injustice, oppression and violence.  Victims/survivors of domestic violence not only suffer abuse at the hands of their attackers, but also often face judgement, prejudice, accusation, criminalization and incarceration from the justice system that is supposed to defend and protect them.  Emotional terrorism is a systemic problem that must be corrected if women/WoC would find sanctuary from domestic violence.
